Course Description

Bachelor of Journalism and Media Studies (BJM) offers a comprehensive curriculum focusing on media ethics, storytelling, digital journalism, and media production. Students learn effective communication, research skills, and multimedia techniques. The program emphasizes real-world experience through internships and practical projects, preparing graduates for dynamic careers in journalism, broadcasting, digital media, public relations, and corporate communications.

    UACE or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.

Overview

The minimum requirements for admission to any Undergraduate degree programme are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
  2. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
  3. Diploma holders must have passed with at least a credit.

The minimum requirements for admission to any Diploma programme are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
  2. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 1 principal pass and two subsidiary passes.

Additionally, for international applicants:

  1. Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English, must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language.
  2. Applicants should have their documents equated by Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) of UCE and UACE documents and Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) for Diploma and Certificate documents.

  5. Media Producer: Oversee the creation of multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, and interactive online experiences.

  7. Editor: Review and refine written or multimedia content for clarity, accuracy, and style in various media.
  8. Corporate Communications Specialist: Manage internal and external communications for businesses, ensuring consistent messaging.

  10. News Analyst: Evaluate and interpret news stories, providing context and analysis for media organizations or audiences.
