The entire Metropolitan International University (MIU) community is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, the esteemed founder of our institution and Uganda’s State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs. Her death marks a great loss to the education sector, the nation, and everyone who knew her for her dedication, vision, and remarkable service.
Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi was not only a prominent political figure but also a passionate advocate for quality education. She founded Metropolitan International University with the goal of providing accessible, inclusive, and transformative education to young people across Uganda and beyond. Under her leadership, MIU grew into a respected institution that has empowered thousands of students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an ever-evolving global economy.
Her commitment to public service was equally profound. As the State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi demonstrated strong leadership and unwavering dedication to the well-being of Uganda’s military and veteran communities.
