THEME: REPOSITIONING AFRICA’S ROLE IN SOLVING GLOBAL CONFLICTS
The debate was initiated by a Senior Journalist in the names of Asuman Ibrahim Bisiika where he started by giving the students at Metropolitan International University a brief background of Africa and its role in resolving the Global Conflicts being the biggest Continent in the world. Related to that He also said that for Africa to move out from one level to another, it must ensure that all problems of the world are resolved collectively by Africa’s Leaders taking the lead first. Problems like poverty, unemployment and conflicts among different races and religions were mentioned as the biggest threat to Africa’s Growth and Development. In addition, different panelist like Maj. Polar Awich (Director of external affairs at NRM secretariat and Mr. Sebola Solly, the political counsellor at the South African High Commission in Kampala also contributed some material for the discussion where they added that Africa must position itself in solving Global Conflicts by being at the Frontline at all times and seasons. In other words, they argued all African Leaders to embrace Africa in their own full bosom.
In conclusion, Mr. Asuman Ibrahim Bisiika, said Africa’s relevance in world’s politics is very limited. To play in the league of world politics, African leaders must remember their roles and responsibilities.
